Range anxiety
Even with the increasing range and charging speed of today's electric vehicles, advance planning is sometimes still needed for long journeys. A bit over a hundred years ago, when gasoline vehicles were complicated to maintain and needed to be crank-started, electric cars were extremely popular and maps showing the locations of charging stations were available for those planning a coast-to-coast trip. Here's a 1914 example (look a bit familiar, Tesla owners?)
